Ranji Trophy final Day 1: Jaydev Unadkat puts Saurashtra on top vs Vidarbha

first_imgSaurashtra’s bowling attack came to the party as it ran through Vidarbha’s batting line-up on the first day of the Ranji Trophy final in Nagpur on Sunday. Vidarbha were reeling at 200 for 7 at the close of first day’s play after they won the toss and opted to bat.Akshay Karnewar (31 not out) and Akshay Wakhare (0 not out) will resume Vidarbha’s innings on Day 2 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur on Monday.Vidarbha failed to get off to an ideal start as Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Unadkat drew first blood by removing Sanjay Raghunath for 2 in the 7th over. Skipper Faiz Fazal too followed suit when he was run out three overs later by Chetan Sakariya.Vidarbha’s batting mainstay Wasim Jaffer (23) and Mohit Kale (35) then tried to revive the innings Unadkat found the outside edge of Jaffer’s bat and Snell Patel completed a good catch.Ganesh Satish got a good start but failed to convert it into a big score. However, it was Akshay Wadker (45) and Akshay Karnewar (31 not out) who got the team’s first fifty partnership (57) for the seventh wicket.In the 88th over, Chetan Sakariya got rid of wicketkeeper-batsman Wadker to put Saurashtra back on top.For Saurashtra, Jaydev Unadkat bagged two wickets while Sakariya, Prerak Mankad, Kamlesh Makvana and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja picked up one wicket each.Also Watch:last_img read more
