Republican Larry Alley appears to have eked out a victory over Democrat Ed Trimmer in the 79th District, thanks to a strong showing in Sumner County…  Sumner County voters fell in line with the state of Kansas and went Republican. The following are the unofficial Sumner County vote totals from Tuesday’s Kansas General Election. They often have editorials against Governor Brownback and his supporters in the Kansas Legislature at the end of our Wellington school board meetings. I would hope now that the school supt and the local school board members realize that here in sumner county and wellington. The Large majority of the Citizen do support Governor Brownback, kasha Kelley, Kyle Hoffman and Steve Abrams and do support the changes they have made to public education and funding. the last 4 years. The Majority has spoken very loudly on election day and the supt and School board member should understand this now. He was defeated last night because of the overwhelming support for his opponent Mr Alley from the voters of sumner county that are in Ed Trimmers Kansas House District. If you only count Cowley county votes that Ed Trimmer would have been reelected. the voters of sumner county spoke last nigh and they are in large majority support the last four years of changes in education spending from topeka and Governor brownback and the Conservative Kansas Legislature. Complain that you don’t like the current regime and then you don’t show up to make it better! Then you want to say “Oh woe is us, we can’t make any changes in this red state!” Report Reply 0 replies · active 301 weeks ago +2 Vote up Vote down Brownback supporter · 301 weeks ago Thank God we got Brownback instead of Davis. We would have been taxed to death…………. Thank you wise voters that voted with your heads instead of your behinds. Report Reply 1 reply · active 301 weeks ago 0 Vote up Vote down Credence · 301 weeks ago We are currently 8.55% so an additional 1/2 cent will put us at 9.05% if my math is correct. I am sure this will really help our local businesses compete going forward. I am sure we will have another opportunity next year to vote on increasing taxes for a new need that we were unaware we had. The scare tactics of losing the hospital if the tax was not approved proved to be a very good campaign message to insure passage of this additional tax. Report Reply +2 Vote up Vote down Zach · 301 weeks ago I’m not sure how so many can vote Rep. And also vote in favor of a tax increase for a hospital.
