Bulldogs Boys & Girls Teams Fall Short Versus Trojans

first_imgThe Bulldogs traveled to East Central to face off against the Trojans on Monday Evening losing 1-0. The conference match was played on turf and also our first time playing there off of their regular grass field. The first half went well for the Bulldogs handling possession well and finding several attempts at goal. The Trojans were quick and skilled as expected, but we held up defensively. It wasn’t until the second half that EC found the game winning goal. 36:31 the ball was sent wide and then crossed into a runner coming from deep with a long driven ball into the net. Ethan Brewer – keeper for the Bulldogs played a great game making some nice saves, keeping Batesville in the competition. As the half went on in the rough heat, Batesville lost momentum and was wore down without having the subs to keep them fresh due to several injuries this season. This was a frustrating loss for the boys, but they’re looking forward to Connersville and then sectional competitions. Courtesy of Bulldogs Coach Kyle Hunteman.Batesville honored their 5 seniors on Monday night as they hosted the East Central Lady Trojans with EIAC Championship hopes on the line. In a 20 minute span in the first half, East Central capitalized on multiple mistakes by the Lady Bulldogs and took a 4-0 lead into halftime. Coach Laker commented on the half, “We made a lot of mental mistakes and got outworked by East Central in the first half.” Batesville honored Ellie Cassidy, Abbey Prickel, Liz Heidlage, Carlie Werner, and Kari Reer on Senior Night. “This senior group has been a very successful group. Tonight was not a good representation of what they have achieved in their four years at BHS. They have won 53 games and have lost only 15 games in their careers. They have brought a lot of leadership, experience, and a lot of memorable moments throughout their careers. We look for them to carry us through a deep postseason run.”  In the second half, East Central took advantage of another poor clearance from the Lady Bulldogs as they scored for the 5th time in the match. Batesville would get several opportunities throughout the game, but could not find the back of the net. center_img Batesville is back at it again tomorrow night as they host Columbus North for Youth Night.last_img read more

first_imgBrady Opticians, Donegal Town are renowned for being the leader in safeguarding your eye health over the years, and their revolutionary new 3D OCT scans are a prime example of their innovation.U2 frontman Bono recently revealed that he has had the eye condition glaucoma for the past twenty years. He is not alone, as it affects approximately two in every 100 people over the age of 40. The danger with chronic glaucoma is that it’s a painless condition and people do not realise they have it.Glaucoma damages the optic nerve at the back of the eye resulting in a restricted ‘field of vision’.This impairs the persons’ ability to drive and navigate stairs for example.Unfortunately, the damage caused by glaucoma cannot be reversed, so it is important to have regular, thorough eye examinations. This is particularly relevant for those who are at risk of developing the disease, especially those who have a family member with the condition.Without treatment, glaucoma may eventually lead to blindness.Fortunately, there have been major advancements in the technology used to aid the early detection of glaucoma such as Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT).Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to provide a 3D view of all the major structures in the eye enabling many eye abnormalities such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, and glaucoma to be detected at a very early stage. The scan is non-invasive, painless, and takes only a few minutes to complete. Brady Opticians are the first practice in Donegal Town to offer their patients this pioneering, cutting-edge technology which is usually only found in eye hospitals.Brady Opticians highly recommend that their patients consider utilising this advanced technology to safeguard their eye health. The charge for this service is €35 and is not covered by the medical card scheme, but the health benefits are obvious. Please contact Brady Opticians today on 074 9721727 or go online at to book your OCT scan appointment.
