Forest Service seeking new recreation ideas

first_imgVancouver – The Gifford Pinchot National Forest is interested in expanding opportunities for organized recreation events on the forest and seeks proposals from the public.Anyone thinking of hosting a group run, an endurance race, charity bike rides or other events is encouraged to apply.From Sept. 1 until Nov. 1, the Gifford Pinchot National Forest will accept proposals for new organized recreation events for 2018 and to add existing events already occurring throughout the year.New proposals will be evaluated under criteria to reduce event overlap, increase youth-focused events, and diversify recreation opportunities.A total of 25 permits will be distributed. If there are more than 25 applications, the Forest Service will use a lottery system to identify proposals for further consideration.More information is available at read more
