Numerous Utah College Football Players Named To Outland Trophy Watch List

first_img Written by FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailDALLAS-Tuesday, the 2019 Outland Trophy watch list was released, featuring four collegians representing Utah schools.This award is annually given to the best interior lineman in college football, representing both the offensive and defensive lines.BYU is represented by sophomore offensive lineman Brady Christensen and junior defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga. The University of Utah is represented by senior defensive tackle John Penisini and senior defensive tackle Leki Fotu.As a redshirt freshman, Christensen, a product of Bountiful High School, started all 13 of the Cougars’ games last season. Tonga has played in 26 games for the Cougars in his collegiate career. He has 49 career tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, four sacks and a forced fumble.Penisini earned second-team all-Pac-12 honors last season, posting two sacks and seven tackles for a loss for the Utes. Fotu is a returning all-Pac-12 first team member, amassing three sacks and 5.5 tackles for a loss for Utah in 2018.In his career with the Utes, Fotu has 57 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for a loss.This year’s winner will be the 74th all-time recipient of this prestigious award.
